PUWER - Mobile Shelving Inspection

Mobile shelving regulatory guide for safe usage

Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations

PUWER mobile shelving Inspection & Maintenance is probably why you are looking into what you need to do to follow PUWER regulation. Mobile shelving systems are designed to be trouble free and easy to care for but still need to be inspected once a year.

PUWER legislation has made it a requirement that any equipment with mechanical moving parts has to be checked and maintained by a competent person.

PUWER stands for the Provision of Use of Work Equipment Regulations (1998). It requires users of work equipment to carry out regular risk assessments which are documented and kept on file.

In order to make it easier for you to follow the legislation we have designed a programme where an engineer will visit your site. They will check the system, carry out any minor adjustments, and issue a certificate to meet the PUWER regulations for the next 12 months.

What do PUWER regulations state?

PUWER regulations state that any equipment provided for use at work is:

Suitable for intended use
Safe for use, maintained in a safe condition and in some circumstances, inspected to ensure this remains the case.
Used only by people who have received adequate information, instruction and training.
Accompanied by suitable safety measures e.g. protective devices, markings and warnings.

Storwell Systems recommend that all mobile storage equipment is checked annually to ensure that your system is still adhering to PUWER regulations. You can download the guidelines by clicking on the button below. If you need a mobile shelving repair service click on the link.
