ITV – Archive Tape Storage

ITV were planning to consolidate the videotape library archives of all of the regional broadcasters within the group in one central location in Leeds.
A big challenge as each of the previous independent ITV broadcasters had extensive archives of film and videotape built up over a number of decades of operations.
Leeds had been identified as the best and most economical site by the ITV group and an empty former warehouse was secured for the job.
Storwell Systems have been long standing partners generally recognised as the foremost experts in the UK for designing and installing videotape and media storage archives for broadcaster and film companies.
The warehouse was split into two sections each had just over 10,000 sq feet floor area. Storwell Systems were asked to visit and audit the stock held in all the satellite sites in London, Southampton and Nottingham where archive film and videotape materials were held in stock.
The solution was to install our high density mobile storage systems to get the maximum capacity possible yet still allow fast access to any of the materials stored.
Over 1500 bays of shelving on nearly 150 mobile bases have been installed altogether in the facility – and all on time and to budget.
